Hi, I’m Janette, a creative director who tends to take on the messy, overlooked problems and quietly get them working better.

While my job description centers on design and art direction, I’ve found that some of my most valuable contributions have come from digging into systems, tools, and workflows that weren’t really “mine” — at least not at first.

An example: back in the day, our customer service team was managing emails through a shared Gmail inbox. I started researching CRM options, comparing costs and features, and put together a recommendation. We landed on Hubspot, and I took the certification courses, set up the database, and trained our staff on how to use it.

Later, I did the same with our internal department management process. I explored platforms, chose Trello, and set up a Kanban-style workflow with automations that made things easier to track. Now, my team doesn’t know how we managed without it.

When we reached a critical point in our outdated web app, I volunteered to lead the search for a development partner. I ended up taking on the role of product owner, and became a Certified Scrum Product Owner® so I could help bridge the gap between leadership and the dev team.

I don’t do any of this because I have to — it’s just how I’m wired. I like understanding how things work, spotting what’s broken, and figuring out how to fix it in a way that lasts. I care about clarity, organization, and making technology work for people.

This portfolio includes my creative work, but it also reflects the other kind of work I do: the unspoken, in-between stuff that keeps things moving.
